The
ONE-
The
ONLY-
THE
FISHSTICKS!!!
In 1979, like minded
weirdos (& chums since high school) Rob Morgan
and Eric Erickson- having
both relocated to Seattle's U-District and gotten
somewhat involved with the
small and burgeoning "underground" scene
there- drafted drummer Peter
Barnes of The Enemy, along with fellow
school bud Kevin Hamilton
on bass, to bang out some '60s toons for
laughs at a rental hall
gig (see below), as well as at a party thrown by The
Enemy (which one came first
I can't recall...I think it was the party!)
Rob went on to the Pudz,
Eric would join The Frazz. Of course,
the two would team up again
in 1985 with the formation of
New
Age Urban Squirrels... (Did we mention The Fishsticks
10th Anniversary Show at
The Rendevous on March 31st,
1989, much to the amazement
of about 15 happy
& VERY LOADED people?
It's TRUE!...
Aw, MEMORIES...)
On a more serious note, we
are sorry to report that
Eric passed away on November
7, 1996 of leukemia... DARN!
We have been running an
on-going series in Poplust Volume Three on
the life and times of this
AMAZING musician ...and will continue to do so!
Check it out!
Needless to say, we love
him, and we miss him.
NOTE:
Any two Fishsticks together at one time are to
be refered to as The BUNS... it's
a long story,
and Eric's not here to explain it... lucky
for YOU...

(aka Tonal Damage)
On drums, Peter
Barnes!
On bass- Kevin
Hamilton
(no live picture available
sorry!)
PHOTOS:
Mike Murphy (?), taken March
31, 1979
at a one-off IOGT Hall
show, opening
for The Little Magnets,
The Radios, and
The Girls, in which the
Fishsticks
EMERGED TRIUMPHANT!
Yuk, Yuk, Yuk!!
The entire set list went as follows:
Sea
Cruise
Eight
Days a Week
Wonderful
World
Last
Train to Clarksville
You
Just May Be The One
Yummy,
Yummy, Yummy
Just
Like Me
Do
You Believe In Magic
This, remember, was 1979-
the early DIY scene was just in it's infancy,
and most people were VERY
concerned about being "PUNK" enough... needless to
say, the fact The Fishsticks
(more or less) "stole the show" proved to be somewhat
aggravating to some of the
more "SERIOUS" musicians on the bill...
a pattern that would plague
Rob's career for YEARS TO COME!!!
LIGHTEN UP, FOLKS! It's all about FUN...
isn't it?
At least it USED to be...
anyway, let's continue on
to THE PUDZ era... right
this
way, kids.
